Plate: Three Types of Chrysanthemums, Kitao Shigemasa, around 1790
"Three Types of Chrysanthemums", a woodblock print by Kitao Shigemasa, likely made around 1790. It is a surimono, a luxury print commissioned privately rather than sold in shops. Shigemasa, largely self-taught, founded the Kitao school and was one of the leading print designers of his day. In this piece, white, red and orange blooms rise beneath drifting butterflies.
Great impacts aren't just about louder attack. Often, it's best to add some bright, crunchy, broken distortion element right after that attack. Then, to give it size: a low end body element trailing after. WildTransient sets you up to do all 3, with complete control of each. Now that's efficiency!
