Plate: Summer Flowers: Irises and Water Plantains, Katsukawa Shunsho and Kitao Shigemasa, 1776
"Summer Flowers: Irises and Water Plantains", a woodblock print by Katsukawa Shunsho and Kitao Shigemasa, published in 1776. It is a double page cut from the first volume of "Mirror of Beautiful Women of the Pleasure Quarters", a picture book the two artists made together. Elsewhere the book portrays courtesans, house by house; on this spread the people step aside, and irises and water plantains rise from the water's edge instead.
Using one of our seven hand-made character modes, independently control how much gets applied to the head and tail of your signal, so each hit, transient, or boom can have different saturation amounts applied. Go from Warm and Velvet to Mean, Grit and Warp, then shape it with Tonal, Noise and Shape. Turn up Bloom for more saturation reaching further down the tail, and switch on the Limiter to catch the peaks when you push it.
